The Seahawks are bringing Drew Lock back for another round. According to a report by Mike Garafolo at NFL Network, the team has agreed to terms with Lock on a one-year deal. It has a base salary of $4 million and a max value of $7.5 million if he hits all his incentives.
Lock came over to Seattle as part of the Russell Wilson trade. He competed with Geno Smith for the QB1 job last summer but at no point did Smith seem in danger of losing his lead. Lock catching COVID-19 just before one preseason game and committing several turnovers in another sealed the deal. He wound up not playing during the regular season.
However, Lock was a second-round pick by Denver not too long ago and he still has legitimate physical gifts. Lock is just 26 years old and still has more time to develop. For now though he’s firmly stuck behind Smith on the depth chart and won’t be starting any games absent an injury.
