Sabotage Studio's Sea of Stars is getting a free update this November. It will add local co-op, new game modes, and other features.
The upcoming update is known as Dawn of Equinox. The features that it brings were requested by the community. The new local co-op will let up to three players come together to play the game at the same time.
Free Sea of Stars Update
On top of this, the free patch will bring a revamped dialogue as well as a bonus cinematic scene for players to enjoy. It also includes new difficulty presets; Story, Adventure, and Challenge. It will also have a number of quality-of-life improvements and other features.
The studio said that the upcoming Dawn of Equinox update represents its "fully realized vision" for the game's wonderful adventure. The patch will become available on PC and consoles on Nov. 12, 2024, according to Eurogamer.
Sabotage Studio is hosting a Twitch livestream on Oct. 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. ET in anticipation of the new update's release. The livestream will offer an "in-depth" look at all the new things that will be coming to Sea of Stars.
Other than the Dawn of Equinox update, the studio is working on a new DLC for Sea of Stars. This is known as Throes of the Watchmaker and will be released across all platforms in the spring of next year.
The major free update's local co-op will give players independent movement when they traverse the world.
However, they need to stay within the screen's confines. It also brings a new co-op Timed Hits feature to turn the game's core mechanic into a group effort, Engadget said.
Adjustments and New Features
It also introduces Combat 2.0 which adds a few fun stuff to battles in Sea of Stars. Mystery Locks will become a new challenge for players to overcome as it requires you to unlock which spells are best to counter enemies.
There is a corresponding "Reveal" action that will appear in some of your party's special skills to combat this. Another new feature is that combo points will now carry over between battles. This opens up new opportunities when starting battles.
Another change is that the entire game has been given a balancing pass, which was based on player feedback. This was also done to allow Sabotage Studio to incorporate the new features to the game across Sea of Stars' entire content, according to Push Square.
