Sea Cadet sexually abused as a boy handed £110,000 payout more than fifty years later

A man who was raped as a child by an officer in the Sea Cadets has received a £110,000 payout, after being denied justice when his abuser died before he could stand trial.

The abuse survivor, given the alias Paul, was subjected to a series of assaults by Petty Officer Steven Bench after he signed up to the Islington and Stoke Newington branch of the Sea Cadets as an 11-year-old boy in 1968.
