Screenwriter Brian Helgeland recently shared insights into his canceled Cleopatra movie project, shedding light on the intriguing plot details that never made it to the big screen. Cleopatra, the iconic Egyptian ruler, has been a popular subject for cinematic adaptations, with the 1963 film starring Elizabeth Taylor being one of the most well-known, albeit troubled productions that incurred significant financial losses for the studio.
Helgeland, acclaimed for his Oscar-winning work on L.A. Confidential, embarked on crafting a new Cleopatra script around 2011, envisioning Angelina Jolie in the titular role and David Fincher as the director. Despite these promising beginnings, the project failed to materialize.
