King Charles’ first overseas trip as monarch has been postponed due to ongoing riots in France in a move branded "an embarrassment" to the country.
Charles and Camilla had been due in Paris from Sunday but chaotic scenes across the country have prompted an “embarrassing” climbdown by President Emmanuel Macron - who asked the British government to halt the visit.
The French feared the King’s security could not be guaranteed ‘because of his interest in mingling with crowds,’ according to security sources in Paris.
