Liverpool has been crowned the tea capital of the UK.
According to a study, Scousers drink the most tea as people in the city average 3.9 cups per day. This is higher than the national average of 3.4 cups per day.
The research was conducted by Rainbow Riches Casino to mark National Tea Day today. The study looked into how people take their brew as 228 million cups of tea are consumed across the nations.

A bone of contention among tea drinkers is the best way to make a brew and the findings unveiled the most popular method was tea bag first, hot water second and milk third. Scousers are in agreement with this method of preparation as 70% decide to make their tea this way.
Controversially, 12% of people in the city opt to go for tea bag first, milk second, hot water third. Other tea-drinking habits in the city showed that Scousers opt for a digestive as their preferred dunking biscuit and prefer their tea to be strong and not contain any sugar.
This is in contrast to areas such as Newcastle where some residents admitted to adding six or more sugars to their cuppa. The Senior Brand Manager at Rainbow Riches said the differing tea habits show we're definitely not in agreement across the nation with how we take our tea.
Helen Smith said: "It's no secret that we love a good old cuppa here in the UK. But when it comes to the go-to recipe for the perfect brew, our survey results show we're definitely not in agreement across the nation!
"While unspeakable to the majority of us (52%) – as many as 25% would opt for milk first. The controversy! And the dispute doesn’t stop there, as it’s clear each city has a unique way of making the perfect tea. Take Belfast's leave-the-teabag-in method! It may not be my cup of tea – but we loved discovering all the quirks in how you take yours."
