VIOLINIST Nicola Benedetti and her foundation welcomed 130 young musicians to the Royal Scottish Conservatoire to mark a major return following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Benedetti Foundation workshops were back in the city for the first time since January 2020.
At the lessons at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, pupils from beginners to advanced players work with tutors to develop their skills.
The Glasgow Sessions will continue today, before moving to the Old Fruitmarket in the city’s Candleriggs tomorrow.
A total of more than 1000 pupils are expected to take part, with their studying including work on a brand-new arrangement written especially for the sessions by The Ayoub Sisters.
Benedetti, who was appointed honorary president of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in June, established the foundation in 2019.
The Benedetti Foundation said: “The sessions will be approaching music in a way that inspires fun and enjoyment, a greater sense of togetherness, a true abandonment of caution, and an embracing of scratches, scrapes and unapologetic flair, as well as connecting to creativity, to dance and rhythm, to harmony, bass and improvisation.”
