Scottish rogue property dealer made £100,000 from house sale after using unfair loan

A rogue Scottish property dealer made £100,000 from the sale of a house after buying it using a Covid loan from the government that his company wasn't eligible for.

Brendan Gaughan has now been banned as a director for 12 years and could face prosecution, as well as possible prison sentence, over his unfair scheme.

The Sunday Mail reports how an investigation found he had wrongly taken out £135,000 of UK Government Bounce Back Loans (BBL), which were set up to help businesses cope with the pandemic lockdown.
