A SCOTTISH region is leading the UK in solar panel installation.
According to analysis of data from the UK certification body MSC by Independent Advisor, 17.4% of households in Stirling were found to have installed solar panels.
It makes Stirling the leading region in the UK for the percentage of solar panels installed, with a total of 7293 installations logged by the body since 2014.
When it came to installations in the past month, the Isle of Anglesey came out on top with 1477 solar panels installed.
However, Midlothian was fourth with a 3% increase in the past month with 1214 installations.
No Scottish regions placed in the list of the worst places for solar panel installation, with the wealthy London borough of Kensington and Chelsea coming out on top with a measly 0.5% of households having solar panels.
“Solar panels not only help reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change, but they can also offer significant long-term savings on energy bills for homeowners,” said Katharine Allison, a solar panels expert at Independent Advisor.
“With the current advancements in solar technology, there has never been a better time to invest in solar energy.
“On average, the typical three-bed household will have paid off their £9600 investment in solar panels within 10 years by saving £968 on their energy bills per year.
“Considering the 25-year life cycle of solar panels, that’s an additional £14,520 in savings once the initial investment is paid off.
“It's crucial to understand why certain areas lag behind in solar installations and address those barriers.
“Whether through improved financial incentives, education, or support for installations, we need to make solar energy accessible and appealing to everyone, regardless of where they live.
“Solar panels represent a smart, sustainable, and forward-thinking choice for any household.
“By investing in solar, you're not just saving money, you're contributing to a cleaner, greener future for all.”
It comes after the Scottish Government appeared to pull public funding for solar panels via Home Energy Scotland with no new applications being accepted after July 31.
