Primary school evacuated after suspected chemical leak with two people in hospital

A PRIMARY school in Perth and Kinross has been evacuated following a suspected chemical leak.

Pupils and staff at Crieff Primary School were evacuated after an adult working in the premises took unwell, according to reports.

Two people have been taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Their condition is unknown. 

Emergency services were called to the school in Broich Road at about 11:30 and the building was cleared as a precaution.

Both Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.

The school has contacted parents directly to arrange pick-ups.

Police confirmed that a cordon is currently in place and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 11.06am to attend an incident on Broich Road, Crieff. We dispatched multiple resources to the scene including four ambulances and three special operation response teams.

“Two patients have been transported to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.”

A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “Crieff Primary School has been evacuated as a precaution after an adult working on the premises took unwell.

“Parents have been contacted by the school directly for pick-up as per normal arrangements. “Scottish Ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are on site.”
