Hearts are close to signing Swiss midfielder Leart Kabashi as they step up their transfer business before Thursday’s deadline.
The 18-year-old is expected to be one of at least two new arrivals at Tynecastle this week. Faroese winger Aron Benjaminsen is also due in Edinburgh to complete his move from Vikingur.
Kabashi has been identified by Jamestown Analytics as a high-potential recruit, according to Hearts Standard. He can play in wide areas, but Hearts see him mainly as a central attacking midfielder who can provide creativity and a threat from distance.
The Switzerland youth international is contracted to Grasshoppers until 2028, so Hearts will have to pay a fee. Talks between the clubs have continued and Kabashi is expected to travel to Edinburgh this week to complete the move.

He has represented Switzerland at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level. Kabashi has made six senior appearances for Grasshoppers and scored his first-team goal at the end of the 2024/25 season, aged 17.
Kabashi and Benjaminsen are expected to work around Steven Naismith’s first-team squad this season rather than become immediate starters. If both deals are completed, they will be Hearts’ 12th and 13th signings of the summer window.
Benjaminsen played his final match for Vikingur on Friday, assisting in a 3-1 defeat by HB Torshavn. His transfer is expected to be completed within 24 to 48 hours, subject to his medical and paperwork.
Hearts are also seeking departures before the 5pm Thursday deadline, while monitoring late chances to strengthen ahead of domestic and Conference League fixtures.
