Lee Sharp revealed Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin is desperate to get back to work after being discharged from hospital.
The 44-year-old took ill last week, and after missing Saturday’s 4-0 win at Kilmarnock, he is again set to be absent from the dugout for Wednesday’s trip to Motherwell.
Assistant Sharp, who will take charge of the team at Fir Park, said on Tuesday: “He’s out of hospital, he’s back home recovering, and he’s just waiting on direction from the doctors, etc, on where he goes from there. He’d be back just now if he could be, if he was allowed.
“We’re in constant dialogue so he’ll let me know as soon as (he is allowed back).”

United could have Lyall Cameron in their ranks for the visit to Motherwell, with the former Dundee midfielder being lined up for a loan move from Rangers. “I just know that it’s ongoing; I’m not sure exactly where it is,” said Sharp.
“If we manage to get him here, it would be a great addition to the squad with what he brings. It’s exciting if we can get that one over the line.”
Versatile midfielder Vicko Sevelj left United this week to move to Azerbaijani side Neftci PFK. “He’s been excellent the two years he’s been here,” said Sharp. “A great lad as well.
“The club did what they could to try and keep him. They offered him a new contract. We weren’t wanting to lose him, but he wanted to explore that option that he had.”
