Scottish Power investigating power cuts in Paisley as whole neighbourhoods left without electricity

A power outage is currently affecting properties in the Paisley area.

Scottish Power say they are unable to give a time when homes and business will be reconnected to supply, but that they are working to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

The problem was first reported around 9.40am and is said to be affecting those in the PA1 postcode as well as G52 and G53.

Scottish Power say that power has been restored to some properties already, but around 400 properties currently remain without power.

It's not yet known what's caused the power cut..

A statement on the SP Energy Networks site reads: "There is power cut in the G52, G53 and PA1 postcode areas of Glasgow and Paisley.

"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 9:42am. Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and we will also send our next available engineer to attend site. Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 11:45am."

However, a spokesperson told Renfrewshire Live that they did not want to give a precise time for the restoration of power as sometimes it can be sooner than expected and sometimes later. They said: "We're working to restore the power as soon as possible."

The SP Energy Networks statement continues: "Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
