Scottish Power app down leaving customers unable to top up meters

Scottish Power customers are having trouble accessing their online accounts this afternoon, leaving many unable to pay into their fuel meters.

Hundreds have reported complaints to global outage site Down Detector. While the reports began early Monday morning at 5am, they have increased rapidly since 1 pm.

Of those reports, 78 per cent are unable to login to the Scottish Power app, with a further 22 having general website issues.

As of now, the UK-wide issue has spread as far as Inverness to London and Cardiff. Customers have taken to Twitter to seek assistance.

One asked: "Any chance of your app working @ScottishPower?"

The energy supplier promptly responded: "Hi James. Our team are working hard to resolve the issue with the app as quickly as possible, please let us know if there is anything we can help with in the meantime."

Scottish Power's app is a customer resource which allows them to access several online features from their smartphone. Users can use the app to monitor their gas and electric usage, submit meter readings, change tariffs and pay into fuel meters.
