A Scottish worker has died and another left injured in an incident on an oil rig platform in Qatar, it has been confirmed.
The Record reports that the alarm is understood to have been raised at the huge offshore facility in the country’s Al Shaheen oil field.
Concerned colleagues on the platform reportedly said the dead man was discovered in a cabin with fatal injuries on Monday night. Another man, also believed to be Scottish, was injured during the incident.

A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died and a man who has been injured in Qatar and are in contact with the local authorities.”
One worker told the Record: “I’ve never experienced anything like this in the industry before.” The incident comes as the World Cup nears its conclusion in Qatar.
The Al Shaheen oil field is located off the north-east coast of Qatar in the Persian Gulf, around 50 miles north of Doha.
It is one of the world’s biggest oil fields, producing 300,000 barrels of oil each day.
