Scottish Labour move out of Glasgow offices

SCOTTISH Labour have vacated the Glasgow offices which have housed the branch office for around a decade, The National can reveal.

Moving men were seen carting boxes out of their Bath Street premises on Wednesday morning and a removal van was parked outside.

A party spokesperson said Scottish Labour were moving to bigger premises in the city and added the move was not motivated by cost considerations, nor were the new premises linked with Anas Sarwar or his family.

The move is understood to have been months in the planning and the party said they were in search of a bigger space.

Scottish Labour’s finances appear to have been turned around by Sarwar, who took the reins in 2021.

In 2019 the party reportedly took in just £250 in donations under the leadership of Richard Leonard, who was blasted by Sarwar as presiding over a “woeful” financial situation.

But in 2023, it was reported in The Herald the Scottish branch office had taken in donations worth more than £200,000 in the first three months of the year.

According to the Electoral Commission, Scottish Labour is an accounting unit of the UK Party and registered at Kings Manor, Newcastle, NE1 6PA.

The Scottish Trade Union Liaison accounting unit is registered in Glasgow and the Galloway and West Dumfries Constituency Labour Party in London.
