A HOTEL in Scotland has been voted the best in the UK in a prestigious travel award.
On Thursday, Condé Nast Traveller’s US and UK editions jointly announced the winners of their annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Fife Arms in Braemar in the Highlands was voted as the best hotel in the UK.
More than 240,000 readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe.
In it, readers rank the best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, tour operators, villas, airlines, airports, trains and cruise lines around the world.
Across the top 40 hotels in the UK, there were several located in Scotland. These included:
- The Balmoral, A Rocco Forte Hotel, Edinburgh
- Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel, Glasgow
- Kylesku Hotel, Highlands
- The Machrie, Isle of Islay
- Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel, Edinburgh
- Rusacks, St Andrews
- Cameron House on Loch Lomond
- Glenapp Castle, Ayrshire
- InterContinental Edinburgh The George
- Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh
- The Fife Arms
The awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.
Condé Nast Traveller’s global editorial director Divia Thani said: "The huge response that the Readers’ Choice Awards garners each year demonstrates just how passionate Condé Nast Traveller's audience is, with the annual awards combining a wealth of insights from in-the-know globetrotters with Condé Nast Traveller’s unique editorial perspective."
Glasgow finished second in the Best UK Cities category, one place above London, whilst Edinburgh came in fourth.
