A restricted capacity 15,000 racegoers meant it wasn’t the busiest ever renewal of the Scottish Grand National in terms of attendance.
But after the Ayr grandstand lay empty for two years it was a roaring return for Scottish racing's big day.
The sun shone as fans finally returned having witnessed the cancellation of the 2020 meeting while it was a closed door affair the following year.
There was even the curiosity of 2021's big race taking place while a certain football match was going on in Glasgow.
But Saturday was all about the racing action as punters acted on their best tips and were glued to the results as they rolled in.
It's not often the action north of the border is so close to the Aintree Grand National and that was always going to have an effect in terms of participation, though the bookmakers’ odds suggested we were likely to be in for a very open contest in the big one.
Here's how every race finished at Ayr.
