A BEEF processing facility in Perth has announced the completion of its £24.5 million extension supported by funding from the Scottish Government.
ABP Food Group (ABP) has announced the completion of a 2800 square meter extension, along with significant refurbishment and upgrades to a meat production plant which was supported by the Scottish Government’s Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation grant scheme.
The development of the beef processing facility has created a further 80 new jobs with the company now employing 836 people in Scotland across three sites in Perth, Bridge of Allan, and Queenslie.
The Scottish Government’s Food Processing, Marketing, and Co-operation scheme provides funding to businesses within the Scottish food and drink sector and invested £24.5m in funding to help the expansion of the ABP Perth site.
The scheme's aim is to provide funding to businesses in the food and drink sector to help make Scotland “healthier, wealthier, and smarter” while helping to provide support to communities and production that is socially and environmentally sustainable.
Minister for Agriculture, Jim Fairlie, said the investment by ABP will help to continue Scotland’s reputation as the source of some of the finest red meat products in the world.

“I am pleased that the Scottish Government could help fund these excellent facilities.
“They will ensure that Scotland maintains its reputation as the source of some of the finest red meat products in the world.”
Bob Carnell, managing director of ABP’s UK division, added that the expansion of the plant in Perth will help play a significant role in the Scottish food sector.
He said: “We are delighted to welcome Minister for Agriculture, Jim Fairlie, to officially open our new facilities in Perth.
“The plant has been transformed into one of the most modern and advanced of its kind in the UK, and it will play a significant role as we develop further opportunities for Scottish red meat products in the retail and food service sectors throughout Scotland, across the UK and in export markets.”
