Scottish girl fighting for her life in hospital after GP failed to spot Strep A symptoms

The mother of a Scottish schoolgirl who was left fighting for her life with Strep A has issued a warning to others.

Ellie Young was experiencing a sore throat and vomiting and was given a telephone consultation by her local doctor's surgery.

Her mother Emma Clark says the life-threatening symptoms were not picked up by her GP twice and she was told her daughter simply had a viral infection, reports the Daily Record.
