Scottish entrepreneur Karen Robinson is aiming to shake up the dairy-free milk category with the launch of new firm - Three Robins.
When one of her three young sons developed a lactose intolerance, she set about finding a fully-fortified, sustainable and tasty alternative to cow’s milk.
Inspired by her children’s love of baking and hot chocolate on camping trips, Robinson wanted to create an oat milk that works as a chilled drink or with cereal, while also working in recipes - and that doesn’t ‘split’ when added to hot drinks.
After an initial commercial launch in May, demand suggests an imminent second batch will see production volumes significantly scale.
Future plans are also afoot for Three Robins to expand its product offering into other family-friendly drink and snack formats.
Launching across Scotland, the milk is available in a one litre, recyclable cartons, is vegan-friendly, made without added sugar, and offers a 12-month shelf life.
Robinson commented: “With a creamy, neutral taste that appeals to kids and a carefully considered nutritional profile, Three Robins offers parents reassurance that switching to plant-based doesn't have to mean that children miss out.”
