A Scottish off-road electric car developer has received £750,000 in funding to support the development of its range.
The money came from a £20m low-carbon project fund run by Elbow Beach Capital, a social impact venture established in London last year.
It should let Munro Vehicles create further prototypes at its facilities in Dalmarnock, Glasgow and East Kilbride and expand its current team of six.
Russ Peterson and Ross Anderson founded the company in 2019 and launched its all-terrain electric car to target heavy industry users, forestry workers, farmers and heavy industrial workers wanting clean energy off-road vehicles.
The first prototype is able to drive up to 150 miles on a single charge and is capable of carrying 1,000kg. The company started taking pre-orders last year.
In December it hired Ross Compton, who worked in his own design company and held previous positions at Atlis Motor Vehicles and Bollinger Motors.
Munro signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the first distribution and support partnership network with Off Road Electric to become a reseller.
Jon Pollock, chief executive of Elbow Beach Capital, who is joining the Munro board, said: “We have seen the prototype in action and were incredibly impressed by its versatility and performance under challenging conditions.”
