A SCOTTISH crisp brand has landed a major deal with a supermarket giant.
Taylors Snacks – formerly known as Mackie’s Crisps – are now available in all Aldi stores across the UK, marking the Scottish snack brand’s first supermarket listing outside of Scotland.
Made at the fourth-generation Taylor family farm in Errol, Perthshire, nearly 220,000 packets of crisps will be sent to Aldi stores across the UK, with an expectation of more listings in the future.
Aldi will stock four of the most popular flavours: Straight Cut Mature Cheddar & Onion and Pickled Onion, and Lightly Sea Salted and Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar Ridge cut flavours, retailing at £1.25 per pack.
James Taylor (below), managing director of Taylors Snacks, said: “We are confident that Taylors will be as well received around the rest of the UK as our snacks have been in Scotland, and look forward to bringing our unique, thick cut crisps to even more people around the country.
“We have enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Aldi for over 14 years since our days trading as Mackie’s Crisps, and we couldn’t be more pleased to partner with them in our first foray into supermarkets outside of Scotland.
“We will always be proud of our Scottish roots and will remain based in Perthshire as our company grows, bringing more jobs to the area. As our brand continues to evolve, we are excited to bring more and more of our ranges to a wider audience.”
The Taylors Snacks core crisp range of thick cut crisps includes flavours such as Sea Salt, Sea Salt and Vinegar, Mature Cheddar and Onion, Pickled Onion, Flame Grilled Aberdeen Angus, Haggis and Cracked Black Pepper and Chilli Kick.
In the ridge cut range, Taylors introduced two new flavours - Hot Buffalo Wings and Jalapeño and Mature Cheddar - in addition to the established flavours of Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt and Vinegar, Cheddar and Onion and Thai Sweet Chilli.
