A SCOTTISH composer has written a new anthem for the Queen’s funeral.
Sir James MacMillan is a leading composer, conductor and festival director and has previously been honoured by the Queen.
His music is widely performed around the world in opera houses and top international orchestras as well as in local churches and choirs.
The Queen’s funeral is taking place in Westminster Abbey with up to 2000 people attending including several world leaders such as Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron.
In a post on social media, MacMillan said: “I was deeply honoured to be invited to write a new anthem ‘Who Shall Separate Us?’ for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The anthem draws on words from Romans 8 in the New Testament and was specially commissioned for the state funeral.
