New research has revealed the cheapest and most expensive cities in the UK for a Christmas night out, with Scottish destinations appearing on both lists.
Using cost of living calculator Expatistan, experts at AskGamblers.com investigated where people can enjoy a night out at the lowest cost during the festive season. They analysed prices of a pint of beer, a cocktail, a fast-food meal, and a taxi fare.
The research revealed that Dundee in Scotland is the most affordable city for a Christmas night out in the UK, costing on average £25.35. The experts found that a pint costs on average £3.08, while a cocktail will set you back around £7.
Meanwhile, party-goers in Dundee only need to spend an average of £5.27 for a fast-food meal and then an average £10 taxi fare to get them home at the end of the night. Other cities to appear in the list of cheapest nights out include Cardiff, Swansea, and York, which cost on average £27.33, £27.35, and £28.14 respectively.
No other Scottish city appears on the top 10 list of cheapest destinations for a night out this Christmas. However, three are included in the list of the most expensive ones.
Edinburgh appears at number four on the list, with an overall average cost of £36.36, behind London, Oxford, and Brighton. According to AskGamblers.com, the average cost of a pint of beer in the capital is £5.10, while the average cost of a cocktail, average cost of a fast-food combo meal, and average cost of a taxi fare is £9, £5.26, and £17 respectively.
Glasgow and Aberdeen also appear on the list, placing at numbers nine and 10. A Christmas night out in the former will set you back on average £32.49, while latter will be around £32.29.
