Scottish Christmas tree farm which supplies luxury hotel up for sale

A SCOTTISH Christmas tree farm which provides firs to a luxury hotel as well as 10 Downing Street has been put up for sale.

The Garrocher Christmas Tree Farm in Dumfries & Galloway is home to more than 300,000 trees which are spread out over more than 330 acres.

John Clegg & Co, the forestry division of Strutt & Parker, has listed the farm for £2 million.

It also includes a three-bedroom farmhouse, handling and wrapping facilities and accommodation for employees.

The farm has provided the trees to 10 Downing Street and the Ritz Hotel in London and even picked up the best traditional Christmas tree prize at the “tree Oscars” in 2010.

Associate director at John Clegg & Co Harry Graham commented: "This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-established and highly successful business in one of Scotland’s most scenic and productive regions.

"With over 300,000 trees in various stages of growth and a proven track record of supplying premium markets, the farm offers a strong income stream and significant potential for growth.

"The combination of first-class handling facilities, well-maintained infrastructure, and an attractive three-bed farmhouse makes Garrocher Farm an attractive investment for those seeking to continue the business or diversify into other agricultural ventures.

"We expect strong interest from those looking to invest in a profitable and distinctive enterprise."

The crop is made up of around 262,000 Nordman fir trees and features other species including Fraser fir, Korean fir and Norway spruce.

The agent added: "Trees identified to form part of the current year’s harvest (2024) which total 8829 will be specifically excluded from the sale and harvested and sold by the seller.

"Since ownership, the property has been continuously managed as a commercial Christmas tree farm for the purpose of wholesale tree sales with an excellent client base all over Scotland and England.

"A prospective purchaser has the opportunity to continue to run and utilise this successful business model or may look to revert the land back to its original agricultural form to create a well located and extremely attractive farming enterprise."
