Clubs in the Scottish Championship and League One have joined the Premiership in reintroducing five substitutes.
The nation's top flight brought the rule back this month after using three in the first half of this campaign.
It was a decision taken to help clubs combat the affects of Covid but it was only for the Premiership initially.
Now Championship and League One clubs will also have the ability to utilise five players from the side lines. League Two already has the change in place.
Five substitutes were used for the entirety of last season after football was put behind closed doors due to the pandemic.
Airdrie, Clyde and Hamilton are among those who can now name benches with nine players from this weekend.
An SPFL spokesperson said: "Discussions have been ongoing in recent weeks with cinch Championship and cinch League 1 clubs about the potential rule change.
“As a members’ organisation, it is important that clubs in each division are able to make decisions on issues like this for themselves.”
