Cabin crew workers with Scottish airline secure pay rise above inflation

WORKERS at a Scottish regional airline have secured a pay rise above inflation.

On Tuesday, trade union Unite confirmed it had won a pay deal worth an overall increase of 26.7%.

The deal, which is UK-wide, will cover cabin crew servicing flights from across the UK and Ireland, including in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Shetland.

The union said more than 120 Loganair cabin crew will benefit from the 18-month deal, which amounts to an average basic pay increase of 23%, which then rises to 26.7% when other pay benefits and allowances are included.

The highest pay rise will be for Loganair cabin crew trainers who are set for a substantial increase of around £8300 or 29.3% on basic hourly rates. The deal runs from September 2024 to April 2026.

Unite said it is the leading aviation union in Scotland.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham (below) said: “Unite has delivered a substantial pay win for Loganair cabin crew workers across the UK and Ireland.

“It’s further evidence that we are securing better pay packages for workers throughout the aviation industry.

“The message to all airport workers is clear, if you want better jobs, pay and conditions - join Unite.”

Alongside this pay deal, Unite has also secured a number of wins across Scottish airports as part of its “Runway To Success” campaign, including a 12.8% pay increase for Aberdeen and Glasgow airport security workers, and a 12% basic pay increase for Edinburgh Airport services workers.

Pat McIlvogue, Unite industrial officer, said: “Unite has successfully negotiated another pay deal which will make a real difference to the lives of our cabin crew members at Loganair.

“We believe this deal will set a benchmark for the rest of the aviation industry and it demonstrates the clear value of being a member of Unite.”
