Scottish bridge to close twice today to allow historic vessel to pass

(Image: Archives)

Glaswegians are being warned that a busy bridge over the River Clyde will be temporarily closed twice today.

The Govan-Partick footbridge will be unavailable to pedestrians and cyclists between 9.50am and 10.30am, and again from 4.10pm until 6.10pm.

The closures are to allow the Waverley paddle steamer to pass through.

It was previously reported that the bridge was closed last night to allow the historic vessel to pass.

A statement published on the Govan-Partick Bridge Facebook page reads: “The Govan-Partick Bridge will be closed to pedestrian/cycle traffic from 09:50 - 10:30 and again 16:10 - 18:10 today (7/8/26) in order for PS Waverley to pass.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, please plan your journey accordingly.”
