A SCOTTISH bar has been named in the world’s top 50 at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 were announced in Madrid on Tuesday night with the Edinburgh-based Panda & Sons coming in 30th place, rising nine spots compared with last year.
The bar’s founder Iain McPherson also took home the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award.
The 2024 list featured bars from 28 cities with 16 new entries spread across the world from Hong Kong to Paris to New York.
The best bar in the world was the Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City while Bar Leone in Hong Kong came in second place and Sips in Barcelona in third.
The highest-ranked UK bar on the list was Tayer + Elementary in London, which came in fourth place.
Three more bars in London featured on the list, including Connaught, Satan’s Whiskers and Scarfes Bar.

The list itself is compiled by votes from the World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises 700 drinks experts, including bartenders and consultants and drinks writer from across the world.
The list has been published annually since 2009 and has become one of the world’s most anticipated rankings for drinks professionals and cocktail aficionados across the world.
