A SCOTTISH author has featured on former US president Barack Obama’s list of his favourite books in 2024.
Obama is well known for releasing lists of his favourite songs, books and films at the end of each year.
On Friday night, he released his favourite books, with In Ascension by Scotland’s Martin MacInnes making the list.
The work was shortlisted on the longlist for the Booker Prize and tells the story of a young girl called Leigh who grows up in the Netherlands as the impact of climate change looms large.
MacInnes was born in Inverness in 1983 and he is the author of three novels, including In Ascension.
Obama said: “I always look forward to sharing my annual list of favourite books, movies and music.
“Today I’ll start by sharing some of the books that have stuck with me long after I finished reading them.
“Check them out this holiday season, preferably at an independent bookstore or library.”
