Scottie Scheffler entered Sunday’s final round of the Master with a three-stroke lead and he finished Sunday’s final round with a green jacket, as his 1-under 71 gave him a three-stroke win and his first major championship.
The No. 1 player in the world had a five-stroke lead going to the 18th hole and then four putted for a double-bogey six that sealed the win. I have to think some nerves were in play on his final few putts.
Scheffler has been on an absolute heater since February. He has won four tournaments – Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational, WGC Match Play, and the Masters – since then, which is just ridiculous.
He was so good this week at Augusta and was in complete control all day Sunday.
