Scott Parker makes Bournemouth fixture claim ahead of rescheduled Nottingham Forest clash

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker is content to make the most the Cherries' fixture backlog after last week's Championship clash with potential promotion rivals Nottingham Forest was postponed.

The Reds made the trip to the south coast last Friday amid Storm Eunice, only for the game to be called off a few hours before kick-off due to damage to the Vitality Stadium.

Forest will now have to make the trip for the rescheduled game on Tuesday, May 3 (7pm), much to the annoyance of Reds fans.

Bournemouth also saw their midweek clash with Swansea City postponed - this time due to storm damage at the Liberty Stadium - but Parker is confident the delays will not upset his team.

"We've got a good enough squad now," Parker told the BournemouthEcho. "There’s a lot of games now we’ve had to fit in, but that’s fine.

"We’ve got a squad. Of course, we may need to adjust certain things. We’ve lived in a bit of a world for the last two years where we’ve had to be flexible and sometimes it’s not been ideal.

"Due to COVID, the game against Peterborough got called off. Then the storm, I think it got recorded as the worst storm in 30 years, obviously affected us [and Forest].

"While we have a lot of fixtures coming up, we’re in a good place and ready for what is going to be a tough run-in now for everyone."

The Cherries have now played fewer matches than any other side in the second tier and have four games in hand on most of their promotion rivals.

That means, the south coast side will have 10 games to play from the start of April in 36 days.

"We’ve got a good enough squad now," the former Fulham boss added. "Obviously some players are missing at the moment, but overall a strong squad that we’d hope can handle a busy fixture schedule, which we have coming up."
