Kenny Miller has stood up for Scott McTominay after a fan described the Scotland star "anonymous" after Wednesday's Nations League victory.
It was a night to remember for Steve Clarke 's side after a convincing 3-0 victory over Ukraine in the first of their Nations League triple header. And it has lead to huge praise for the players as they gear up for another Hampden night on Saturday, with Republic of Ireland the visitors.
Scott McTominay alongside Callum McGregor made up the heart of the Scotland midfield as they held off a strong Ukraine side, receiving a glowing report from pundits and punters alike in the days following. But one chap was not left particularly pleased with McSauce's display, going as far to say the Man U man should be dropped from Steve Clarke's starting XI on Saturday eve. The caller began by praising Scotland 's performance on Wednesday, but went on to pick apart the 25-year-old's efforts.
He said "The only change I would make, that wouldn't be an enforced one, would be Scott McTominay. I think on Wednesday in a game where almost all of the players were excellent and put in good performances, McTominay for me was the one who wasn't necessarily bad, but he wasn't that great either. He was kind of anonymous for a lot of it and when he did feature he was making the wrong decisions."
Pundit Kenny Miller was not too pleased with the caller's comments, chipping in to show his complete disagreement with his opinion on the Manchester United man.
Miller responded: "I have to disagree. I can understand that he's (McTominay) not getting as many headlines as McGinn, Armstrong, Christie, Adams, Dykes, but I think that goes for McGregor as well.
"These guys are in there to do a job. Their job is to keep that ball moving, defensively organise the guys in front of them, pick up the right positions.
"I thought he was good. I thought he was excellent when he needed to be aggressive.
"(McTominay) has got a job. It's not as glamorous as the other lads in the team but it is equally as important in regards to controlling the game.
"The amount of balls that fell out of the Ukraine box and landed on a Callum McGregor or a Scott McTominay based on them being in the right positions to get the ball, recycle it and have complete pressure towards that Ukraine goal.
"That, for me, was one of the most impressive things about the performance. How much control we had in the opposition half the other night."
