Scott Brown's 'pet hate' as Celtic legend's 'ruthless' manager approach at Fleetwood explained

He can't handle losing goals from set-pieces - and Celtic hero Scott Brown's management style is straight to the point according to Shaun Rooney.

The boyhood Hoops fans joined the former Parkhead captain's Cod Army revolution in League One during the summer transfer window from St Johnstone. It's Brown's first job as a manager after a short player-coach role at Aberdeen. His side currently sit 15th in the league and progressed to the FA Cup second round with a 3-1 win over Oxford City on Saturday.

Rooney has loved working with Parkhead great who won countless trophies during his time as Hoops skipper, earning the reputation as a fiery midfielder due to his combative style. The full-back told the Sunday Mail: “I wasn’t nervous before working for him. I’ve always supported Celtic so when Scott came calling I was obviously ready to say, ‘Yes’. In terms of working for him, it’s what I thought it would be like. If you work hard, he’s happy with you.

“And that’s what I do. I wasn’t expecting ‘in your face’ because you can’t be like that as a manager. But I did think there would be more shouting. After a defeat, obviously he’s not happy.

“He’s ruthless, tells you how it is. We conceded from a free-kick the other day and that’s the gaffer’s pet hate. It hurt him. But he also tries to pick everyone up after a setback.

“I’m impressed with his work. He works very hard tactically. He doesn’t leave the place until late because he does his work on our team and other teams."
