Scott Arfield sends Leon Balogun three word Rangers message as Ibrox cult hero gets in on act

Scott Arfield has sent Leon Balogun a three word Rangers message following his return to the club.

He was joined by Ibrox cult hero Andy Firth in sending congratulation notes to the 35-year-old defender after he became Michael Beale's seventh summer signing by putting pen to paper on a one-year deal. The Ibrox men received wide praise from the support online for the way they announced the defender as part of their social media updates at the Germany pre-season training camp as he provides much-needed cover and experience to the backline with Leon King ruled out for a 'significant period of time'.

Following his announcement, the stopper took to social media to share a number of snaps with him posing with the Rangers shirt once again and penning his contract. He captioned his post with "Coming home." The uploaded grabbed the attention of a number of professionals in the game with the likes of Victor Moses and Wilfred Ndidi leaving congratulations messages.

Arfield - who has just started a new adventure in the MLS with FC Charlotte - commented: "Congratulations big fella." with a handshake and clapping emoji.

Firth added: "Good luck big man" with a clapping and blue heart emoji.

Former Rangers pair Jordan Jones and Cedric Itten also left supportive messages for the defender while team-mates Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, Ianis Hagi and Cyriel Dessers all liked the post as did ex-Ibrox duo Greg Stewart and Nathan Patterson.

Speaking after his return, Balogun told the Rangers website : “I am just excited to be honest, it is still a bit unreal but it is very real, so I am just really really happy to be back at Rangers – it feels like coming home.”

“Since I have left, I have always felt a lot of appreciation and love from friends I have made in Glasgow and around the club and now that I am back it is nice to say the least.

“I know second is no option, I know what people are going to say very quickly if we are not performing so it is time to get to work, put our best foot forward and make sure we get the results that we need.”
