After surgeons tried to mend her heart with transplants from a pig and cow, brave Robyn Cairney is hoping she will finally find lasting good health thanks to a human donor.
Her long ordeal began in June 2009 when Robyn, originally from Ruchazie in Glasgow, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.
Then just 18, her narrowing aortic valve was replaced with a pig’s during four hours of open heart surgery.
