Scots with a pad to shout about are being urged to apply for the next series of Scotland’s Home of the Year. There is one spot left on the SHOTY schedule for season five of the popular BBC Scotland show, and homeowners with something special are asked to get involved.
SHOTY producers say: “We’re on the homestretch! Casting of Series 5 of Scotland’s Home of the Year is drawing to a close.
"So whether you live in a contemporary flat or a cottage, a castle or a croft - we’d like you to get in touch. We want a great home, whatever its size!”
A quirky croft house on Stornoway was named Scotland’s Home of the Year for 2022. New Tolsta, which is based on the north east coast of Isle of Lewis, was bought by current owner Tom Hickman in 2006 - which is 37 years after it was last lived in. Artist Tom then painstakingly restored the croft house to its former glory - while adding his own distinctive style throughout.

The home followed a traditional two-up, two-down layout, boasting a beautiful kitchen, living room and bathroom on the ground floor with two bedrooms upstairs.
It is also filled with Tom’s artwork and is mixed with traditional pieces of furniture.
New Tolsta was named the unanimous winner of the show by all three judges - lifestyle blogger Kate Spiers, interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones and architect and lecturer Michael Angus.
The home fended off competition from Fort William, Kippen, Kirkwall, Edinburgh, Elsrickle, Helensburgh and Fife. To be in with the chance of winning the coveted title, a property musty have architectural merit, distinctive design and original style.
