Pupils at a Scots school were evacuated today due to a 'health and safety issue' before two men were spotted acting suspiciously in the school grounds.
The pair were spotted near Boclair Academy, in Bearsden and their presence is now being probed by police.
Staff at the East Dunbartonshire school sent a text message to some parents, letting them know that some pupils would be sent home later than usual, reports the Glasgow Times.
East Dunbartonshire Council has confirmed that "a health and safety incident" took place and that the men were spotted during an evacuation of pupils.
Ann Davie, Depute Chief Executive, East Dunbartonshire Council, said: "An evacuation at Boclair Academy took place this afternoon due to a health and safety issue reported.
"Pupils were mustered for safety as a precaution and were dismissed slightly later than usual once the issue was investigated and the building was deemed safe to re-enter.
“During the evacuation two males were spotted within the school grounds and were asked to leave. They did so without incident however their presence is now being investigated."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3pm on Friday, 10 February, 2023, we received a report of two male youths acting suspiciously near to a school on Inveroran Drive, Bearsden.
“Officers attended, and advice and guidance was provided to staff. “Enquiries are ongoing."
