Scots pensioners will pay the price for Tory cuts during cost of living crisis

Households across Scotland are facing extremely tough times due to the current cost-of-living crisis.

In times like this it is important to protect the most vulnerable in society.

So, it is no surprise to see the unsympathetic Tories taking money away from pensioners when they need it the most.

It is a frightening prospect for elderly people who will now have to budget for £500 a year less in their pockets.

Boris Johnson has leapt from one catastrophe to the next and some of them, like Partygate, are not reversible.

The Prime Minister must rethink this callous policy of suspending the triple lock on pensioners –especially when bills are skyrocketing to unprecedented levels.

Many OAPs are already having to choose between heating and eating – and that’s before this winter when the price cap on electricity and gas is set to rise again.

Pensioners are likely to be the worst affected in the winter months when their heating simply must be turned on.

While Tories line the pockets of their wealthy donors through tax breaks, the people who have contributed most to this country are being forced to struggle.

A £500-per-pensioner hit is a drop in the ocean for the Treasury.

During a time of crisis it is important the state does as much as possible to help but that is the opposite of what Johnson and his cronies are doing.

Reversing the suspension could be the difference between life and death, so now is the time to act.
