A Scots pensioner has been overwhelmed with thousands of birthday cards and gifts from strangers to celebrate her turning the great age of 101 - after an appeal from her care home in Glasgow.
Mum-of-one Edna Clayton, 100, has few relatives so staff at her care home issued the appeal before the big day on January 31.
She received a bumper 4,500 cards in the space of just the past three days, after an appeal as she spent her 100th birthday alone due to lockdown.
