Scots mum left housebound over fears light would trigger son's extreme epileptic seizures

A mum has told how she was terrified to leave her house in case the daylight triggered her son's extreme epilepsy.

Stacey Hutchison, from Whitburn, West Lothian, says she was left housebound in the early years of her son Frankie's life, because of his condition, which can cause aggressive seizures due to sensitivity to light.

At 15 months, Frankie was diagnosed with the rare and life limiting form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome, which affects one in every 15,000 infants.
