Scots mum hit police officer with glass bottle during Rangers title party

A mum hit a police officer with a glass bottle during the Rangers title party.

Stephanie Donaldson, 30, hurled it at an unknown officer who formed part of a cordon in Glasgow city centre's George Square on May 15, 2021.

Hundreds of jubilant Gers fans had gathered earlier that day to celebrate the club's first Scottish Premiership title win.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that an order for dispersal had been made at 8.40pm which had also been posted on social media.

CCTV was gathered after the event which was reviewed by police

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: "Donaldson was shown throwing a glass bottle at a police officer.

"It smashed as the bottle hit the police officer's helmet."

Donaldson was caught after police received anonymous information that she was responsible.

The mum-of-four, of Ayr, South Ayrshire, was eventually cautioned and charged.

She pled guilty today to culpable and reckless conduct.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by sheriff Iain Fleming.

He told Donaldson: "You should not construe that the fact you have been granted bail that you will avoid a custodial sentence."
