Scots man killed in motorbike crash was expecting first baby with childhood sweetheart

A Scots man who died in a horror motorcycle accident was going to be a first-time dad with his childhood sweetheart.

Phillip Alan Buchan, known as Phil, died in the crash near Loch Lomond on Wednesday April 20.

The 31-year-old's partner Gina is due in just a few weeks with their first child.

The couple had been together since secondary school.

Phil, from Clydebank, was remembered as a person who would 'bend over backwards to accommodate all who knew him' as devastated pals pledged to continue his generosity after his death.

One of Phil's friends, Gerry Boyle, is now raising cash to support Gina, in an effort to ease some of the financial burden as she nears the end of her pregnancy.

Writing on the Go Fund Me page, he said: "Phil was our good friend and soon to be father who was involved in a motorcycle accident and tragically lost his life.

"We are hoping to raise some money to help ease the financial burden for his family as his girlfriend Gina is expecting their first child in a few weeks.

"Phil and Gina have been together since secondary school.

"Phil would help all of us out and bend over backwards to accommodate all who knew him so I am hoping we can all do the same to support his family during this extremely difficult time."

So far just under £5,700 has been raised in one day.

Emergency services raced to the incident on the A82 between Tarbet and Inveruglas around 4.15pm last Wednesday when Phil's motorbike collided with a lorry.

He sadly could not be saved and died at the scene.

Sergeant Hugh Niccolls, from Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the deceased.

“I’d like to thank the public who stopped at the scene and have provided statements to officers. We continue to appeal for any further witnesses to come forward.

“If you have any information on this incident, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2388 of 20 April.”
