A Scots life coach armed himself with knives and lashed out at six police officers, when he "lost the plot" outside his home.
Peter Weddle, who champions the power of positive thinking, promised potential clients that he could help them "reach their dreams".
But a court heard that he armed himself with the weapons during a disturbance outside his home. Weddle, 36, admitted six charges of assault and possession of two knives in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
In 2020 he told how he had overcome heroin and cocaine addiction to publish a book on spirituality, How The Law of Attraction Saved My Life.
Describing himself as "one of the best life coaches around", Weddle claimed: "I can help anyone overcome their problems and reach their dreams."
He said his ambition was to open a Highland retreat centre for people with drug and alcohol issues. But Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Weddle lapsed into drug use again and turned violent when confronted by police officers on Christmas Eve last year.
Fortunately, none of the officers was injured and eventually he was disarmed and detained. Defence agent Matthew McGovern said Weddle, who is educated to degree level, regretted his actions.
The solicitor stated: "He has a problem with cocaine. He realises the police should not have had to deal with this sort of thing when they were simply carrying out their duties."
Weddle had been in custody since his arrest in December, but Sheriff John Speir put him under supervision for three years as an alternative to further time in prison.
He was also ordered to attend substance misuse counselling and will be confined to his home between 7pm and 7am each day under an eight-month electronic tagging order.
