SCOTS have reacted with anger as the country's public broadcaster revealed its presenter and punditry line-up for the 2026 Fifa World Cup – with no Scots.

STV posted of a picture of those leading the coverage of the World Cup live from ITV’s studios in Brooklyn, New York.

Those pictured are Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Semra Hunter, Laura Woods, Karen Carney, Gary Neville, and Mark Pougatch.

The group features one American, English and Irish presenters and pundits, but no Scots.

According to ITV commentary will be led by Sam Matterface, Jon Champion, Seb Hutchinson and Joe Speight and co-commentary will be provided by Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, Andros Townsend and Lucy Ward.

ITV and STV are separate companies that both hold Channel 3 licences.

The National understands that STV pays a contribution towards the network programming, including the World Cup, but decisions regarding the tournament's content are made by ITV.

However, social media users were quick to point out the lack of Scottish voices.

One called the coverage "pathetic", while another said: "Direct from London. Can’t wait to hear their deep knowledge and expertise on the Scottish game."

One said: "English coverage you mean, not a Scot among them. Did you forget that Scotland also qualified? Fed up hearing about 1966."

Another reacted: "No Scots only Ally McCoist doing co-commentary. But in the studio all English and an Irish man, now correct me if I am wrong but neither Ireland or Northern Ireland are in the World Cup."

"Another World Cup through English eyes. No other country in the world would put up with this crap," someone wrote on Twitter/X.

An STV spokesperson said: “STV is delighted to bring viewers live matches and coverage of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup on our channel and STV Player.

“We’ve also dispatched a full team of STV sport journalists who are on the ground in the US following every step of Scotland's journey across STV platforms, including STV News, our digital and social platforms, hit podcast The STV Radio Football Show and on STV Radio – ensuring viewers in Scotland don’t miss a thing."

Scotland will play Haiti for the first time in history in their opening World Cup match in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The high-pressure contest in Boston will be seen by both sides as a must-win fixture if they wish to progress beyond the group stages, with Morocco and Brazil lying in wait afterwards.
