A host of Scots celebrities and footballers are set to 'strip' in aid of a Hamilton teenager who lost his leg to cancer.
Top comedian Gary Faulds along with Scots Internet funnyman Dazza, former Scotland footballer James McFadden and Accies players Shaun Want and Scott Martin will all undergo the wax strips at a special fundraiser for Fraser Reid.
The 18-year-old recently had to have his leg amputated after being diagnosed with bone cancer for the second time - almost a year after he was initially diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.
As well as undergoing chemotherapy back in 2021, Fraser had to have surgery to remove the tumour and underwent a full femur and knee replacement leaving him stuck in bed with a knee brace for 12 weeks.
In a devastating blow, almost a year to the day that he received his diagnosis Fraser was given the news that the cancer had reoccured and that this time amputation was the only option with the operation taking place a few weeks ago.
A recovering Fraser said: "Life since amputation is not fun, it's torture everyday with phantom pains which are tormenting because nothing seems to help."
Now his close pals and family and fundraising to help Fraser raise between five and £15,000 for a new prosthetic leg.
And having seen the JustGiving page online, Hamilton businesswoman Lisa-Marie Poole was keen to help and quickly organised the Fraser Reid Fundraising Night with the special waxing event at Hamilton Accies Football Club on Sunday, July 24.
Lisa-Marie, who runs Lisa-Marie at the LA Clinic in the town, said: "I first saw Fraser's fundraising page on the Hamilton Grammar parent page and saw that there was an event for the kids to climb Tinto Hill to raise £5000 to go into the fund for a prosthetic leg.
"They had raised £2500 so I put a fundraiser out to try to help.
"This then became a lot bigger when Gary Faulds and Dazza said they would be waxed. We then had James McFadden, Shaun Want and Scott Martin also agree to it. And to top it off DJ George Bowie will do the compering for the event.
"This will be a fun afternoon from 1pm for adults and children with a raffle that includes a signed Ipswich Town football top, beauty vouchers from LA Clinic and food vouchers for Mick T's Takeaway.
"If anyone has any prizes they can donate it would be greatly appreciated as well as if there any singers who are willing to spare a wee hour for entertainment that would be amazing.
"Please if you can come alomg and support this amazing fundraiser for Fraser. And thank you to everyone who has pledged their support so far."
