Scots footballer 'grateful to be alive' as he takes first steps after brain surgery

A non-league footballer in Ayrshire admits he's grateful for a "second chance at life".

Will Graham was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital following a pre-season clash with Maybole last month.

It was then discovered that the Hurlford United star, who featured for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership as a youngster, had suffered a bleed on his brain.

He was then transferred to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The 'Ford favourite has now taken to social media to thank everyone for their support – and the surgeons who "saved his life".

Graham said: "Where do I even start? I just want to thank everyone for the messages. I can’t thank everyone enough or put into words how grateful I am to still be alive.

"I can’t thank the surgeon enough for saving my life at QE hospital, giving me a second chance at life."

Graham posted a video on his Twitter which showed him walking following the surgery, and added: "First day walking...a week-and-a-half after brain surgery. It's still really hard but not giving up.

"It's gonna be a long, long road to recovery but so grateful to be alive.

"I absolutely refuse to give up."
