A son has told of his "great relief" after his dad was found nearly eight weeks after going missing. Andy Bonnes, 57, has been discovered "safe and well" after disappearing from the Lundin Links area in Fife on August 2.
Police quickly launched a frantic appeal for information as his son Gordon released a statement on social media looking for help to trace his dad. But thankfully on Monday, September 26 - 55 days after his disappearance - officers confirmed Andy has been found.
Gordon told of his delight on Twitter as he wrote: "It’s a great relief that my dad has been found after 7 weeks missing. Next thing for us to move forward is that he gets home safe."
Police previously said they were becoming increasingly concerned for his safety. The last positive sighting of Andy before he was discovered was on Thursday, August 4, when he was seen leaving Inverkeithing train station.
Gordon said at the time: "This isn't a post I'd ever thought I'd make, but my dad Andy Bonnes has gone missing. If anyone sees him please get in touch ASAP with myself, or the police or Kirsty Goodman.
"He doesn't have his phone, and was last seen at 9am on Tuesday. In times like these, I hope social media can rally together and find him, and get him home safe. Please Share to get the word out."
On Monday, a spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed: "57-year-old Andy Bonnes, who had been reported missing from Lundin Links, has been traced safe and well. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals."
