Scots conspiracy theory graffiti artist strikes again with scrawl featuring sinister 'know your enemy' message

Conspiracy theorist graffiti has been scrawled across a wall in Paisley – sparking a furious reaction from a veteran politician.

Councillor Kenny MacLaren blasted the “mindless” culprit behind the defaced structure next to the play area at Maxwellton Park.

“Know your enemy” was painted on the wall, accompanied by an arrow pointing to scribblings which said: “World Economic Forum and those following orders”.

The government, media, doctors, police and NHS were then referenced. It’s not the first time that this spot has been marred with such graffiti.

The wall was targeted in April of last year with the word “Scamdemic” and the February before that with a similar message.

Councillor MacLaren said: “There has to be someone who knows who is doing this and it’s time to make them pay for the costs of cleaning up this mess.

“This graffiti is insulting to those who have lost someone from Covid and those who continue to suffer the long-term effects of this virus.

“It was bad enough when the graffiti appeared previously but clearly the culprit has now expanded on their conspiracy theories and seems to be blaming everyone for whatever it is that has upset them.

“Anyone who has suffered from Covid or who has lost a relative or friend through it must be upset when they see this graffiti – I’ve asked the council to remove this as soon as possible.”

Renfrewshire Council said graffiti is damaging to communities in the area.

A spokesperson said: “The graffiti at Maxwellton Park has been reported to us and our StreetScene team will remove this as soon as possible. Graffiti damages our communities.

“If you see offensive graffiti which needs to be removed, you can report it to us online via our MyAccount service on myaccount.renfrewshire.gov.uk/service/Tell_us_about_graffiti or by calling 0300 300 0300.”
